American Express has come up with a new and one of its kind offer for its cardholders. Now, on redeeming American Express Membership Rewards Points earned on your AmEx credit card, you’ll get 30% of the redeemed Points posted back on your credit card account. This offer is unique in the sense that you usually do not get any offers on reward points redemption. The offer is valid from 1st September 2021 to 31st October 2021.

Under the Redeem & Earn offer, when you redeem the Membership Rewards Points earned on your American Express credit card, 30% of the Points redeemed shall be posted back on your credit card account. You can earn a maximum of 3,000 additional Membership Rewards Points with this offer during the entire offer period. This also means that a maximum of 10,000 Membership Rewards Points can be redeemed under the offer, i.e. the cashback benefit shall be applicable on redemption of a maximum of 10,000 Membership Rewards Points (30% of 10,000 is 3,000). The offer is valid from 1st September 2021 to 31st October 2021.
Offer Eligibility:
- American Express Redeem & Earn Offer is applicable only to the following American Express credit cards- American Express Platinum Card, American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card, American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card, American Express Gold Card, American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card and American Express SmartEarn Credit Card.
- Only those card members who received official communication from American Express regarding the offer are eligible for the offer.
- The offer shall be applicable only on redemption of the Membership Rewards Points through the following channels-

American Express Redeem & Earn Offer Terms & Conditions:
- The offer is valid from 1st September 2021 to 31st October 2021.
- A maximum of 3,000 Membership Rewards Points can be earned and a maximum of 10,000 Membership Rewards Points can be redeemed during the entire offer period.
- The offer is applicable on redemption of Membership Rewards Points either via “SafeKey Transactions” or via the “Select & Redeem” option on the American Express app or online account (see details above).
- The Membership Rewards Points earned under this offer shall be credited by 31st January 2022. However, the timeline may get affected due to the COVID situation. In such a case, the Points earned shall be credited latest by 28th February 2022.

Bottom Line:
American Express is evidently promoting its credit cards quite aggressively in India for the last couple of months by providing exciting benefits to its cardmembers with new and unique offers. Earlier this month, American Express, with an aim to promote insurance spends, launched an insurance offer for its cardmembers. Last month also, we saw a dining offer and a spends-based offer on AmEx credit cards. Now that HDFC is also allowed to issue new credit cards, the competition in the credit card market is expected to further ramp up, and therefore we can expect more offers and deals from all the credit card issuers in the country.
