SBI Credit Card Benefits Slashed; Air Accident Insurance Removed

2 July, 2025 / By Kartik Kanwar / 0 Comment

Every credit card user in India has likely felt disappointed or expects to be disappointed due to the removal of features from their credit cards. It has now become the norm for us all. While some of these changes are minor, others can have a significant impact.

SBI Card has recently announced a minor devaluation involving several of its popular credit cards, such as the Aurum and SBI Pulse. From 15th July 2025, the issuer will no longer offer complimentary air accident insurance, which previously ranged from ₹50 lakh to ₹3.5 crore with select SBI Credit Cards. This can be seen as a minor or soft devaluation, as most users may never have needed to utilize this coverage. Still, it’s essential to stay informed about updates to the credit card offers provided by the issuer.

Bottom Line

SBI Card’s decision to remove complimentary Air Accident Insurance coverage across almost all its credit card offerings marks a minor devaluation of customer benefits. With no exceptions across the portfolio, cardholders are left without any air travel protection. This change shall be implemented from 15th July 2025 onwards.

Considering that not many took advantage of this benefit, it should not be viewed as a significant step by SBI Card and should not affect us all.
