HDFC Bank today announced a few changes to the cashback benefits that you get on the Millennia Credit Card. HDFC Milllennia Credit Card is one of the most popular cashback cards in the market, particularly among millennials and young professionals. One major change that the bank has made is, now you’ll earn 5% cashback on select partner merchants (including Amazon, Flipkart, BookMyShow, Swiggy, Zomato etc.) up to Rs. 1,000 (instead of Rs. 750 earlier) with no minimum transaction limit. The changes will come into effect from 1st November 2021.

What are the changes:

HDFC Bank has made a few major changes to the cashback benefits on the Millennia Credit Card. Most of these changes make the card even more rewarding. Now you earn 5% cashback at partner online merchants directly (even without the SmartBuy/PayZapp offer), more merchants have been added to the list of partner merchants, and the validity and the max cap on the CashPoints has also been increased.

Changes in Cashback on Online Transactions-

5% cashback on SmartBuy and PayZapp transactions and 2.5% cashback on other online transactions. 5% cashback on online transactions at partner merchants including Amazon, BookMyShow, Cult.fit, Flipkart, Myntra, Sony LIV, Swiggy, Tata CLiQ, Uber and Zomato and 1% cashback on other online transactions.
Minimum transaction of Rs 2,000 required to avail the cashback. No minimum transaction limit applicable now.

Changes in Cashback on Offline Transactions-

Other Changes-

  • The validity of the CashPoints (cashback is earned as CashPoints) is increased from 1 year to 2 years.
  • Earlier, you used to get Rs. 1,000 gift voucher on spends of Rs. 1 lakh in a calendar quarter in the first year only; this benefit has now been extended to every calendar quarter every year.
  • Earlier, minimum 2,500 CashPoints (and multiples of 500 thereafter) were required for redemption against cashback (in rupees); now you need only 500 CashPoints for redemption against cashback.

Bottom Line:

While most of these changes make the Millennia Credit Card even more rewarding, as now you get 5% cashback on online spends at partner merchants even without the SmartBuy or PayZapp offer and the number of partner merchants has also been increased, however, the 2.5% cashback on other online spends has been decreased to just 1%. Another positive change is that the validity of the CashPoints has been increased to 2 years (from 1 year) and now there is no minimum transaction requirement to avail the cashback. If you’re planning to sign up for a new credit card, with all these changes, the Millennia Credit Card becomes an even more attractive choice.
