The HDFC Bank BizPower Credit Card is a popular business card, especially for earning rewards on tax payments. With the start of the financial year 2026, HDFC Bank has announced changes across several cards, including Regalia Gold, Diners Club Privilege, and BizPower.

Some of these updates are positive, while others may reduce overall value for certain users. Overall, these changes seem aimed at making the cards more sustainable in the long run rather than being a complete devaluation.
Starting May 2026, the BizPower Credit Card will see multiple updates, including changes to the reward rate, new milestone benefits, revised lounge access, fair usage limits on income tax and GST payments, and higher accelerated reward earnings.
Change in Base Reward Rate
Effective 15th May 2026, the base reward rate has been revised to 5 Reward Points per ₹200, from 4 Reward Points per ₹150 on all business spends.
Assuming a value of ₹0.65 per Reward Point, this results in a drop of around 6.25% in the effective reward rate.
Change in Accelerated Reward Rate
Starting from 15th May 2026, there will also be a change in accelerated reward earnings. Cardholders will need to spend ₹25,000 on non-business transactions per statement cycle (excluding IT and GST spends) to become eligible for accelerated rewards.
Once this condition is met, they can earn 5X Reward Points (i.e., 25 RP per ₹200) on business spends such as income tax, GST payments, and more.
Accelerated rewards shall be capped at 7,500 Reward Points per statement cycle.
New Milestone Benefits
From 1st July 2026, cardholders will be eligible to earn a ₹5,000 voucher (MakeMyTrip/Reliance Digital) on quarterly spends of ₹2.5 lakh. This is a positive change, as the card earlier offered only ₹2,000 for the same spend milestone.
However, fuel, IT, GST, and EMI transactions will now be excluded from milestone benefit calculations.
Fair Usage Capping
To prevent misuse of the reward structure and keep the program sustainable, a fair usage cap has been introduced.
Reward Points (5 RPs per ₹200 spent) will be awarded only on the first two Income Tax transactions and first two GST transactions per billing cycle. Any additional transactions beyond these will not earn Reward Points.
Travel Benefits
From 1st July 2026, lounge and travel benefits on the card will become spend-based. Cardholders will be eligible for 2 domestic airport lounge visits per calendar quarter and 1 Zero Cancellation flight voucher (MakeMyTrip) per quarter, provided they spend ₹75,000 in the previous calendar quarter.
Bottom Line
The changes to HDFC BizPower are fairly straightforward and show the bank’s effort to curb misuse of the card. It was known that certain users were taking advantage of the reward structure, but with the new fair usage policy, genuine spending will now be rewarded more appropriately. However, this may be a drawback for some high-spending individuals.
Overall, with the introduction of higher capping, a slight reduction in reward rate, new milestone benefits, and fair usage rules, the BizPower Credit Card should remain rewarding for most users.
