HDFC Bank Withdraws the 10x Reward Points Offer on Diners Club Credit Cards – January 2022 Update

January 2022 Update:

HDFC Bank has finally withdrawn the 10x Reward Points offer on its Diners Club Credit Cards w.e.f. 1st January 2022. The offer had been running since the launch of the Diners Club Credit Cards by the bank with a few modifications from time to time.

SmartBuy Offer

Although this 10x Reward Points offer has been discontinued, the existing SmartBuy offer is still applicable on HDFC Diners Club Credit Cards under which HDFC Diners Club Black Credit Cardholders earn 10x Reward Points on purchases made at partner merchants via SmartBuy (up to a maximum of 7,500 Bonus Reward Points), while other HDFC Diners Club Credit Cardholders earn a cashback of 5% on purchases made at partner merchants via SmartBuy (max capping of Rs. 2,000 applicable on cashback earned on Diners Club Privilege Credit Card and Rs. 1,000 applicable on Diners Club Rewardz, Diners Club Miles and Diners Club Premium Credit Cards).

HDFC partner merchants for the SmartBuy offer include some of the most popular brands like Amazon, Flipkart, OYO, Yatra, Cleartrip, IRCTC and Red Bus.

December 2021 Update: HDFC Bank has removed Swiggy as a partner merchant in December.

November 2021 Update: HDFC has added Health and Glow as a partner merchant in November.

The 10X Rewards offer on HDFC Diners Club Credit Cards is a long-running offer since the cards were launched. The offer went through several devaluations like decreasing reward points, removing some partners, but still, it’s one of the most lucrative offers for those who frequently purchase from the bank’s partner brands. You earn 10X Reward Points on spends with your HDFC Diners Club Cards (Diners Club Black, Diners Club Privilege, Diners Club Rewardz, Diners Club Miles and Diners club Premium Credit Cards) at partner merchants.

The Offer

Under this accelerated Reward Points offer, you earn 10X Reward Points on your HDFC Diners Club Credit Cards on shopping from HDFC’s partner merchants which include brands from several spends categories like shopping, travel, food and personal care.

Until a couple of years ago, Amazon also used to be one of the bank’s partner brands on which you could earn accelerated Reward Points on your Diners Club Credit Cards.

This 10X Reward Points offer is applicable on all the Diners Club credit cards offered by HDFC  Bank. Currently, HDFC has the following Diners Club Credit Cards in the market-

Offer Terms & Conditions

• The offer is applicable only on Diners Club Retail credit cards with the Reward Points feature only. The offer is not applicable on corporate, business and commercial credit cards and cards with Miles reward structure.
• The additional 9X Reward Points earned under the offer are posted on the credit card account within 90 days from the end of the month in which the Reward Points were earned.
• This 10X Reward Points offer on partner brands is in addition to the accelerated Reward Points/additional cashback offer applicable on shopping via SmartBuy Portal.
• You will earn the additional Reward Points on shopping from the partner brands’ official website/offline store (as applicable) only.
• The maximum number of Reward Points that can be earned under this offer is subject to the normal Reward Points max cap as applicable on these cards (see the table above for details).

Bottom Line

HDFC Bank is the only card issuer in the country that issues credit cards on the Diners Club payment network. Although Diners Club credit cards are not as widely accepted as their Visa or MasterCard counterparts, such attractive offers do make them an attractive proposition. The best part about the offer is, this offer is in addition to the already running SmartBuy offer on HDFC credit cards, which makes these Diners Club credit cards more rewarding than some of the Visa and MasterCard credit cards offered by the bank.
