They say it’s never about the destination; it’s about the journey.
So, why not have fun and relax while traveling, whether domestically or internationally? With complimentary airport lounge access for add-on cardholders and any accompanying guests, you can enhance your travel experience. Whether you’re traveling with family or friends, premium cardholders can share these benefits to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey for everyone.

Check out our detailed comparison of top cards that offer free lounge access for add-on cardholders and guests.

As seen in the table above, airport lounge access for add-on cardholders and guests is typically offered only on premium credit cards in India, though a few sub-premium cards like the HDFC Regalia Gold also provide this benefit.
How is Lounge Access Granted – Credit Card or Priority Pass?
Physical card access is generally more convenient for domestic lounges, as cardholders can simply swipe their credit card at the lounge entrance. However, this access is typically limited to the primary or add-on cardholder, with guest entry often not permitted.
In contrast, Priority Pass provides broader international lounge coverage and often includes guest access privileges. That said, it usually needs to be activated separately and carried along while traveling, which adds an extra step for users.
Access to international airport lounges for guests is primarily provided through Priority Pass.
How to Maximize Lounge Access for Friends & Family?
- Get Separate Add-on Cards: For spouse, parents, or children over 18 to access lounges independently. Those with the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card can even provide their kids (12 years or older) with an add-on card.
- Use Your Cards Smartly: Track whether airport lounge access is provided via the physical credit card or through a Priority Pass (or similar lounge membership).
- Plan Group Trips: If traveling in a group, check how many airport lounge entries your card supports.
- Track Limits: Use apps and webpages like Priority Pass or DreamFolks Web Access to track domestic lounge access limits (e.g., 4 per quarter).
- Combine Benefits: If your partner or close family also has a premium card, combine both to access more guests.
Bottom Line
If you frequently travel with your partner, children, or parents, choosing a card that supports add-on cardholders or guest lounge access makes all the difference. Super premium and premium credit cards like Kotak Solitaire and IDFC First Mayura stand out by offering shared travel benefits that go beyond just the primary cardholder.
One thing is clear that free airport lounge visits for add-on guests are typically offered with high annual fee cards, except for a few like Axis Atlas and Marriott Bonvoy HDFC. Did we miss any credit cards? If you have suggestions or queries, please share them in the comments below.
FAQs
What is the difference between add-on and guest lounge access?
Add-on lounge access means the secondary cardholder can independently use lounges. Guest access means the primary cardholder can bring a non-cardholder (friend/family) along.
Does the primary cardholder need to be traveling with the guest for lounge access?
Yes, in most cases, guest lounge access is only allowed when the primary cardholder is also traveling and present at the lounge during entry. Guests typically cannot access lounges on their own without the primary cardholder.

For Regalia Gold, the official site says “Using Priority Pass, you and your add-on member can together avail up to 6 Complimentary Lounge Access per calendar year, outside India.”
Please clarify if the 6 visits are combined ones or for each add-on card holder including the primary one.
