Axis Bank Revises super.money RuPay Credit Card Benefits Effective 1 January 2026: Cashback Structure Overhauled

In a major update impacting lakhs of users, Axis Bank has announced significant revisions to the cashback computation of its popular super.money RuPay Credit Card, effective 1 January 2026. The card which was earlier known for its straightforward and generous cashback model will now follow a more tired and conditional structure. These changes aim to rebalance reward distribution but may affect customers who primarily used the card for high-value UPI transactions on the super.money app.

Axis Bank Revises super.money RuPay Credit Card Benefits

Key Changes in Cashback Computation

The most notable update is the removal of the ₹500 per-cycle cashback cap, a move that at first glance appears consumer-friendly. However, the bank has simultaneously introduced new restrictions that limit the effective cashback users can earn, especially on 3% UPI purchases through the super.money app, which had been the card’s central attraction.

Under the revised model:

  • All eligible UPI purchases (except those made through the super.money app) and all non-UPI purchases will now earn unlimited 1% cashback.
  • Cashback on super.money app-based UPI transactions (3% category) will now be capped at the total cashback earned from all other eligible 1% spent during the same billing cycle.
  • If a customer earns less than ₹100 cashback from 1% categories but earns more than ₹100 from super.money UPI spends, the cashback on super.money spends will be restricted to ₹100.
  • Additionally, transactions under ₹100—across all categories—will not earn any cashback.

This revised framework essentially ties high-value 3% category rewards to how much a cardholder spends outside the super.money app, thereby encouraging balanced usage across spend types.

Illustrative Scenarios Highlighting the New Structure

To clarify how the new rules apply, Axis Bank has shared example scenarios.

Scenario 1

A customer spends:

  • ₹4,000 on super.money UPI (3% category)
  • ₹9,000 on other eligible UPI and non-UPI purchases (1% category)

Under the old rules, this would produce ₹120 + ₹90 = ₹210 cashback.

Under the revised rules:

  • Uncapped 3% cashback = ₹120
  • 1% cashback = ₹90
  • Capped 3% cashback = ₹100 (equal to 1% category earnings, but not exceeding the ₹100 minimum-cap rule)
  • Total cashback credited: ₹190

Scenario 2

A customer spends:

  • ₹11,000 on super.money UPI
  • ₹30,000 on other eligible spends

Here, the uncapped cashback would be ₹330 + ₹300 = ₹630.

With revised capping:

  • 3% cashback capped at earnings from 1% category = ₹300
  • Total cashback credited = ₹600

These examples underscore that while the upper cashback ceiling has effectively widened, customers can only unlock higher benefits by increasing their non-super.money spending.

Bottom Line

The revision marks a strategic shift. While light and moderate UPI only users may earn less cashback than before, customers with diverse and higher monthly spends may still extract significant value. The change also reflects a broader industry trend of curbing high-reward UPI-linked spends due to increasing transaction volumes and  rising cost pressure  on issuers

Axis Bank’s super.money RuPay Credit Card remains lifetime free, which continues to make it attractive. However, users who previously relied on maximizing the 3% super.money UPI benefit may now need to rebalance their spending patterns to optimize rewards under the new system.
