Kotak Mahindra Bank Customers can Now Link their RuPay Credit Cards to UPI

Recently, the NPCI announced that Indian citizens can now link their RuPay credit cards with UPI and conveniently use them to make payments. Most major card issuers had already started this facility for their cardholders and now Kotak Mahindra Bank customers can also link their RuPay credit card to UPI and start making payments to merchants with POS devices and QR codes.

Customers have the option to choose out of seven RuPay cards in Kotak Mahindra Bank’s portfolio, which can they use to make transactions across merchants instantly via UPI. It is a welcome change as people can gain easy access to credit without carrying a physical credit card at all times. Moroever, they can continue earning reward points and milestone benefits for their credit card spends.

Kotak Mahindra Customers can Seamlessly use RuPay Credit Cards on UPI

As the NPCI and Kotak Mahindra Bank announced that customers can now use RuPay credit cards with UPI-enabled apps, customers can get a Kotak RuPay card and use it to make UPI payments. This allows them to access credit without carrying their physical credit card everywhere with them.

This is also great for small merchants, especially in rural and semi-rural areas that could not accept card payments. This is a great milestone for both UPI and RuPay network as it increases the purchasing power of customers and provides convenience of making transactions anywhere anytime through UPI with their credit card.

The Kotak RuPay credit card will get linked to a VPA or Virtual Payment Address, that allows secure and safe UPI payments. The credit card can be linked with all major UPI apps including BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe, MobiKwik, Paytm, etc. Cardholders can continue earning reward points on their UPI payments with the card and even get an interest-free period of 50 days to repay their dues.

How to Link RuPay Credit Cards on UPI

Kotak Mahindra Bank credit cardholders must follow these steps to link their RuPay credit card to UPI –

• Open the UPI application and login to your account
• Click on the Profile icon and head to Payment Methods
• Select the option Link RuPay Credit Card
• Choose Kotak Mahindra Bank and then choose your credit card
• Enter the necessary details and click Confirm.
• Under the Kotak Credit Card, click on Set PIN to set up your passcode.
• After setting up the UPI PIN, the Kotak RuPay credit card will be ready to make UPI payments

How to Make UPI Payments with Kotak RuPay Credit Cards

Follow these steps to make UPI payments with your Kotak RuPay credit card –

• Scan the merchant’s UPI QR Code with your app’s scanner
• Enter the amount to be paid
• Select the RuPay credit card account to make payment
