Emirates Skywards Standard Chartered Credit Card was one of the most popular credit cards among frequent international flyers. It was a sub-premium co-branded travel credit card by the Standard Chartered Bank in partnership with Emirates Airlines. The card used to earn Skywards Miles on all categories of spends and also used to offer other additional travel benefits like domestic/international airport lounge access, cashback on duty-free spends, insurance covers and many more.

Emirates Skywards Standard Chartered Credit Card Discontinued

As per an email sent by the Standard Chartered Bank to its Emirates Skywards cardholders, the cardholders will no longer earn Skywards Miles on their Emirates Skywards Standard Chartered Credit Card with effect from 1st April 2022 as the bank has served its ties with Emirates Skywards. Additionally, all other benefits such as complimentary airport lounge access, golf benefit, Priority Pass membership shall also be discontinued.

The card can be used till the expiry date

While Standard Chartered Emirates Skywards credit cardholders will neither earn Skywards Miles nor get any additional benefits, Standard Chartered has assured that the card shall remain active till the expiry date. Also, the Skywards Miles accumulated in the credit card account can be redeemed until three years from the date of credit of Miles.

New Credit Card to be Dispatched

As a service gesture, Standard Chartered Bank will dispatch a new credit card with the same credentials to the registered mail address of the cardholders within 30 days of intimating the cardholder of discontinuation of the benefits. The credit limit and the terms of service of the new card issued shall be the same as that of the old card. It is also expected that Standard Chartered Bank might offer a complimentary upgrade the existing Emirates Skywards cardholders to the SC Ultimate Credit Card.

Bottom Line

While Emirates Skywards is ending its association with Standard Chartered, a new Emirates co-branded credit card is expected to be launched soon by HDFC on the Diners Club platform. If you fly frequently via Emirates Airlines, you may wait for the launch of the HDFC Emirates Diners Club Credit Card. As far as SC Emirates Skywards Card is concerned, you can use it till the expiry date without earning any Miles or getting any additional benefit.
