The Visa Platinum Credit Card is a popular offering from HSBC because it has been available without joining or annual charges for a long time, making it a lifetime free option. Recently, HSBC launched a similar RuPay Platinum Credit Card, which is also available for a lifetime free. Now, it has announced several changes to the HSBC Visa Platinum Card, primarily the upgrade from Visa Platinum to Visa Signature. This variant update would allow cardholders to unlock several useful benefits, such as the complimentary Times Prime membership, which offers several useful vouchers and complimentary memberships like those of Spotify, Disney Hotstar, EazyDiner, and more.
While the upgrade from Visa Platinum to Visa Signature is considered a revamp of the card’s features, the 5X accelerated Reward Points bonus for hitting the milestone benefit will now be removed. All these changes shall be applicable from 1st September 2025.
Visa Signature Update
- Access to 20+ OTT platforms and 40+ exclusive offers with complimentary Times Prime membership.
- Two complimentary flight seat selections on MakeMyTrip (up to ₹350 per booking)
- 15% cashback (MyCash) on domestic hotel bookings through MakeMyTrip.
Removal of Accelerated Milestone Benefits
The benefit of accelerated Reward Points for reaching annual spending of ₹4 lakh on the HSBC Visa Platinum Credit Card will be removed effective August 31, 2025. Customers who achieve the milestone spending of ₹4 lakh before this date will still be eligible for the bonus accelerated reward points until the end of their card anniversary or August 31, 2026, whichever comes first.
Bottom Line
The HSBC Visa Platinum Credit Card will be upgraded to the Visa Signature platform, unlocking more benefits than ever before, including a complimentary Times Prime membership, seat selection during bookings with MakeMyTrip, and 15% cashback on select hotel bookings via MakeMyTrip. These changes shall be applicable from 1st September 2025.
While most of the changes are positive, there is one feature downgrade as well. The accelerated 5X Reward Points awarded on reaching milestone spends will now be removed. This brings the HSBC RuPay Platinum and HSBC Visa Platinum Credit Cards on par, as the newly launched RuPay Credit Card also didn’t include any milestone benefits. Apart from this, all features such as zero joining and annual charges, and the reward rate, shall remain the same.
What remains to be seen is whether HSBC changes the card name to reflect the upgrade from Platinum to Signature.

Me too don’t use much. It some times give offers on instamart and Amazon. Upgrade options need to be given in app itself. Otherwise, expiry date of card will be a few years away making the upgrade meaningless then.

I am keeping this card because it’s LTF and has BOGO movie tickets on Saturday through BMS. It will be there with me till that offer is there with the card.

I just keep this card because it’s lifetime free and useful for HSBC offers. Never really cared about the accelerated points, so doesn’t matter that they’re gone. The new features don’t seem that useful either. Will they automatically send the new Visa Signature card?
