The Tata Neu HDFC Credit Cards have become a well-known household name, with over 2 million cards issued. These cards are highly rewarding for daily purchases, such as groceries, as well as occasional investments like gold. Recently, SBI Card also jumped on the Tata Neu bandwagon by launching its own series of Tata Neu co-branded credit cards, mirroring the exact features, benefits, and fees of the HDFC Tata Neu Credit Cards. However, the SBI Tata Neu Credit Cards faced considerable criticism due to the spending requirement for free airport lounge access, something that the HDFC cards did not require.

Unexpectedly, shortly after the launch of SBI Tata Neu Credit Cards, HDFC has announced changes to its popular Tata Neu co-branded credit cards. Starting June 10, 2025, both the HDFC Tata Neu Credit Cards will require a spending threshold to access free airport lounges, similar to the SBI cards. Cardholders of the Tata Neu HDFC Plus and Infinity will need to spend ₹50,000 in the previous quarter to qualify for free airport lounge access in the following quarter. This significant change by HDFC is seen as a downgrade to the overall travel experience with Tata Neu Credit Cards and is considered to be a major devaluation for both cards.

Now Spend ₹50,000 or More for Free Airport Lounge Access With Tata Neu HDFC Credit Cards

Starting from 10th June, 2025, there are going to be major changes to the airport lounge access program offered with HDFC Tata Neu Credit Cards.

No More Swiping for Free Lounge Access

Complimentary access to domestic airport lounges via direct swipe-off will be discontinued effective midnight on June 9, 2025, with the Tata Neu HDFC Credit Cards. After this date, customers can still access lounges directly using their credit card on a chargeable basis, according to the rates communicated by the lounge staff.

Cardholders who meet the spending criteria of ₹50,000 or more within a calendar quarter will receive an SMS and email (sent to their registered mobile number and email address) within 30 working days. This communication will contain a link to claim a lounge voucher. All communications related to eligibility for rewards and details about membership claims will be managed and dispatched by GyFTR. Customers need to claim their voucher within 120 days of receiving the qualification notification.

Instructions on how to claim the voucher and additional details will be updated by HDFC Bank shortly.

Difference Between HDFC and SBI Tata Neu Credit Cards Airport Lounge Access

All spending requirements have been implemented only for domestic airport lounge access. No change has been announced for international airport lounge access.

Overall, Tata Neu HDFC Infinity requires lower spending than Tata Neu SBI Infinity, making it a crucial point for those considering applying for the cards.

When the SBI Tata Neu Credit Cards were launched, many people focused on the similarities between the Tata Neu HDFC and SBI Credit Cards, while also criticizing the SBI Tata Neu Credit Cards for requiring a minimum spend to access airport lounges. In my opinion, the general public would not have anticipated that such a requirement would soon be implemented for the Tata Neu HDFC Plus and Infinity Credit Cards.

It’s important for those with HDFC Tata Neu Plus and Infinity Credit Cards to note that starting June 10, they will need to spend ₹50,000 each quarter to receive a free airport lounge access voucher. Card swipes at eligible airport lounges shall no longer be allowed.
