Scapia Federal Credit Card Sees First Major Devaluation of 2026: What Cardholders Need to Know

27 January, 2026 / By Divya Shokeen / 0 Comment

Scapia has announced some changes for its credit card users starting on February 27, 2026. While Scapia is making updates, not all of them are positive. The new structure will require users to spend more to earn rewards, and will no longer offer rewards for insurance premiums and utility payments, including electricity, mobile, broadband, gas, and water bills, which previously provided benefits. This means that many customers might find the card less rewarding than before, as they will now need to spend more to get the same perks. Users should take note of these changes and consider how they might impact their spending and rewards strategy moving forward.

New Update: International Airport Privileges via the Scapia App

Cardholders now have the exciting opportunity to unlock exclusive International Airport Privileges by booking an international flight worth ₹50,000 or more in a single transaction through the Scapia app. This new feature aims to enhance the travel experience for users by providing added benefits at international airports.

Once these privileges are unlocked, users can enjoy several perks, including:

  • Cardholders can spend freely at a variety of duty-free stores, brand outlets, and dining establishments located in international terminals across India.
  • Users will also benefit from a 100% cashback on their rewards, up to a maximum limit of ₹2,000.

What’s Changed

Lounge Access Spend Requirement Doubled

Scapia Credit Card now offers the same airport lounge benefits for both Visa and RuPay cardholders.

  • The monthly spend threshold has now been doubled to ₹20,000, compared to the earlier requirement of ₹10,000 per month. You can add up your spending on both Visa and RuPay cards, or you can use just one card to meet the spending requirement.
  • Once the ₹20,000 monthly spend criterion is fulfilled, users become eligible for unlimited domestic lounge access along with airport privileges.

Rewards Removed on Insurance & Utility Payments

One significant change is that rewards will no longer be given for everyday purchases. This means that certain transactions will not earn any rewards anymore on:

  • Insurance payments (MCC 6300)
  • Utility payments (MCCs 4900, 4812, 4814, 4816, 4899)

For users who depended on these categories to earn rewards regularly, this is a significant decrease.

What Stays the Same

  • Zero forex markup on international spends across 150+ countries.
  • Rewards on Scapia Federal Credit Card spends:
    • Earn 10% rewards on all eligible spends using the Visa card.
    • Earn 5% rewards on all eligible spends using the RuPay card.
  • Get 20% rewards on all orders made through the Scapia app.
  • Enjoy unlimited domestic lounge access along with airport privileges.

Bottom Line

Scapia’s first major update of 2026 clearly changes who this card is meant for. The removal of rewards on insurance and utility payments takes away the easiest way for many users to earn points every month. These were routine expenses, and losing rewards on them quietly reduces the card’s day-to-day value.

But the biggest shift, and the one most users will feel immediately, is the change in airport lounge access. Doubling the spend requirement from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 is a big deal. Lounge access was one of Scapia’s strongest and most loved features because it was not easy to unlock, yet not unattainable. Now, casual spenders and light users may find themselves missing out, especially those who relied on basic monthly expenses to cross the earlier threshold. While the benefit is still “unlimited,” reaching it now demands more spending.

For many existing users, especially those who valued lounge access for minimal effort, this change will feel like a real downgrade, and it’s worth rethinking whether the card still fits their spending style.
