For most people, Wink Rewards may not mean much. But for those who are deeply into the points and miles game, or even people like me who randomly sign up for loyalty programs and forget about them, receiving an email from Wink Rewards came as quite a surprise.
With Wink now joining World of Hyatt through Unscripted by Hyatt, members are being offered a special 90-day Discoverist status trial. In the email, Wink mentioned that they have been working with World of Hyatt to make sure loyal Wink guests are properly recognized.
Honestly, this came as a pleasant surprise for many, and for anyone interested, it is a great opportunity to enjoy an elite tier with Hyatt without the usual stay requirements. For me, simply creating an account with World of Hyatt instantly granted Discoverist status, even though the email mentioned that I needed to register separately for the offer.
How to Retain Discoverist Status?
During the 90-day trial period, the number of qualifying nights you complete will decide whether you retain or upgrade your World of Hyatt status:
- 4 Qualifying Nights – Retain Discoverist status
- 10 Qualifying Nights – Upgrade to Explorist status
- 20 Qualifying Nights – Upgrade to Globalist status
If you complete the required nights during the trial period, the status will remain valid till February 2028.
Bottom Line
While researching for my dream Vietnam trip, I came across Wink Rewards and casually signed up for it. Funny enough, that one random signup ended up getting me Discoverist status with World of Hyatt. Whether I fully use the status or not remains to be seen, but Hyatt does have a strong global presence and also offers fairly predictable value on points, somewhat similar to Accor.
For frequent travelers and points enthusiasts, even a complimentary entry-level elite status can be quite useful. Benefits like late checkout, preferred rooms, bonus points, and smoother stays may not sound huge individually, but they definitely add up over time.
