Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program is set to undergo some major updates, with some improvements in reward earning rolling out from September 1, 2025, onwards. These changes aim to make the program more rewarding by giving members additional ways to earn Elite miles, new redemption options, and adjusted award charts.
While these changes might be improvements, there’s an additional update: KrisFlyer now requires you to spend more air miles to redeem tickets or upgrade seats on select Singapore Airlines flights.

Earning KrisFlyer Elite Miles – Update 2025
Currently, KrisFler members accrue Elite miles when booking flights with Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Star Alliance, and several other partner airlines. In addition to this, members can also earn points on the following:
- Shop and dine with Kris+ in Singapore and two Australian cities: Melbourne and Sydney. Earn 1 Elite Mile for every SGD1/AUD1 spent.
- Make purchases via KrisShop.
- Book travel experiences using Pelago.
These status credits will also count toward KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards and PPS Rewards. PPS Club members will earn 1 PPS Value for every SGD 3 spent on Kris+ shopping and dining in Singapore and Australia, as well as on KrisShop purchases and Pelago experience bookings. The maximum PPS Value is capped at 2500.
Hike in Redemption Rates – Effective 1 November 2025
With its email update, Singapore Airlines has given users a two-month notice regarding the redemption hike, effective from November 1, 2025. Here is what the update implies –

Redemption bookings made before November 1 will remain unaffected by these changes and will be based on current rates. This update applies to flights operated by Singapore Airlines, Star Alliance, and partner airlines.

Bottom Line
The KrisFlyer update brings a mix of good and bad news. Non-flight spending now helps you earn status faster, and Access Redemption provides extra flexibility. However, redemption hikes mean your miles won’t be as valuable as they were, especially for long-haul premium bookings. If you’ve been saving miles, consider booking flights before 1 November 2025 to lock in today’s lower rates.
