SBI Card has revised the reward points redemption rules for its credit cards. From 1 April 2026, cardholders will be able to redeem a maximum of 60,000 reward points per month for statement credit. While a monthly cap on redemptions is not uncommon in the industry, the limit set by SBI Card is relatively reasonable and may not impact most regular users.
However, the second change is more notable. Redemption of reward points for statement credit will now be allowed only in multiples of 4,000 points. This means cardholders will need to accumulate points beyond a certain threshold before they can redeem them, reducing flexibility for smaller redemptions.
These changes may not amount to a direct devaluation of rewards, but they do add another layer of rules to the redemption process. Over time, such revisions reflect the increasing complexity in credit card reward structures.
What Shall Change for SBI Credit Cardholders from April 2026?
- Effective 1 April 2026, redemption of Reward Points for Statement Credit will be capped at 60,000 points per month. This change will apply to all eligible SBI Card credit cards, except the Air India SBI Signature Card, PhonePe SBI Card PURPLE, and PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK.
- Additionally, from 1 April 2026, reward points for statement credit can only be redeemed in multiples of 4,000 points. This rule will apply to all eligible cards except PhonePe SBI Card PURPLE and PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK.
As per the website notice dated 26 February 2026, these revisions will come into effect at the start of the new financial year.
