Understanding Annual Fee and Welcome Bonus

The HDFC Infinia charges a yearly fee of ₹12,500 + GST. As a welcome bonus, customers receive 12,500 Reward Points and a complimentary Club Marriott membership for the first year. This means that for the initial year, customers get points equal to the annual fee they paid, making it an innovative and cost-effective choice. From the second year onwards, if an annual spend of ₹10 Lakh is reached, the renewal fee of  ₹12,500 is waived off, further enhancing the cost-effectiveness of the card.

The fee structure for the American Express Trifecta differs slightly in the first year compared to subsequent years.

For the initial year, you are required to pay a sum of ₹7000 + GST for all three cards. (AmEx MRCC- ₹1,000 + GST, AmEx Gold Charge Card- ₹1,000 + GST, and AmEx Plat Travel- ₹5,000 + GST). The welcome bonuses from all three cards will give you 18,000 Membership Rewards Points. In case of any referrals, customers get 4,000 points on each application, which is 12,000 bonus points.

From the following year, the annual fee for Trifecta will be ₹14,000 + GST, which is two times the initial year’s charge (AmEx MRCC- ₹4,500 + GST, AmEx Gold Charge Card– ₹4,5000 + GST, and AmEx Plat Travel- ₹5,000 + GST). There are no spend-based fee waivers for the AmEx Gold Charge Card or the AmEx Plat Travel. The annual fee AmEx MRCC will be waived on Spends of ₹1,50,000, or 50% of the cost will be waived on spending Annual Spending Between ₹90,000 to ₹1,49,999. Assuming a customer is able to spend  ₹1,50,000 with their AmEx MRCC, they will still be paying a fixed cost of  ₹9,500 for the other two cards.

Differences in the Reward Structure

For every ₹150 spent using the Infinia HDFC Card, you earn 5 Reward Points. These rewards are also earned for insurance, utilities, and education spending, except for fuel spending. Infinia or Trifecta – Which to Pick?

The decision to choose between the HDFC Infinia and the American Express Trifecta ultimately depends on your specific preferences, spending habits, and the kind of perks you prioritize on a credit card. Both the HDFC Infinia and American Express Trifecta are premium credit card options tailored for high spenders.

The Infinia offers more exclusive perks, like unlimited golf and luxury hotel discounts, making it ideal for frequent travelers and luxury seekers. Infinia, which is HDFC’s premium product, can be attained only when invited by the bank. The invitation may only be sent through if you fulfill the bank’s criteria of having an account with them and a credit card, both of which are in excellent standing. Your spending habits may also be looked at. However, its exclusivity makes it harder to obtain, and it comes with a high annual fee, which may or may not be justified depending on your usage.

On the other hand, the American Express Trifecta provides an extensive reward system across three cards, offering flexibility and a wider range of rewards for those who spend in diverse categories such as dining, travel, and shopping. The Trifecta is a great choice if you want to earn points across a broader range of spending categories and take advantage of its reward points flexibility, which can be redeemed for a variety of things, including flights, hotel stays, and lifestyle perks. Let’s not forget that to be able to use Amex Trifecta to its full potential, a minimum of ₹7.12 Lakh should be made on a yearly basis.

In conclusion, if you’re someone who enjoys luxury and exclusive travel-related perks like access to elite golf courses and 5-star hotel discounts, and you travel frequently, the HDFC Infinia might be a better fit. However, if you’re a high spender across multiple categories and want more rewards, then the American Express Trifecta would likely be the better option, offering a more well-rounded reward system and benefits that span beyond just luxury and travel. Your choice should ultimately be driven by whether you value exclusive experiences or maximizing rewards across different spending areas.
