When Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card was initially launched in July 2019 on the MasterCard platform, an annual fee of Rs. 500 was applicable, however, after RBI imposed restrictions on MasterCard, Axis Bank relaunched the card on the Visa payment network as a lifetime free card with no annual fee. The bank has now reintroduced the annual fee of Rs. 500 for the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card. The good news however is that this annual fee is waived off if a minimum transaction of Rs. 2 lacs is made with the card in a membership year.

High Reward Rate

Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card is definitely one of the most popular online shopping credit cards in the country. Although it is a Flipkart co-branded credit card, the card not only offers an accelerated reward rate of 5% on spends at Flipkart and Myntra, you also get a high reward rate of 4% on spends at other partner merchants including Swiggy, Uber, PVR, Tata Sky, 1mg, cure.fit and Cleartrip, and as far as other online/offline transactions are concerned, the card offers a reward rate of 1.5% across all other categories of spends.

Cashback Credit Card

Another reason why so many online shoppers find the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card an attractive option is that it rewards the cardholder with cashback which is automatically adjusted against the card’s statement balance so the cardholder need not worry about the Reward Point redemption.

Airport Lounge Access

Entry-level credit cards usually do not offer airport lounge access to the cardholders, Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card, despite being an entry-level card, does offer 4 complimentary lounge access at domestic airports across India. This one additional feature makes Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card stand out from other shopping credit cards.

Easy Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card are not very strict- salaried applicants must have a minimum monthly income of Rs. 15,000, while self-employed applicants must have a minimum monthly income of Rs. 30,000 to be eligible for the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card.

The Competition

While Flipkart Axis Bank Credit is a great pick for someone who frequently shops at Flipkart/Myntra, it might not be a good choice if Flipkart is not your preferred e-commerce platform. Therefore, other online shopping credit cards like Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card and SBI SimplyCLICK Credit Card offer a neck-to-neck competition to the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card.

Bottom Line

Until now, unless you had a specific preference for a particular e-commerce platform, Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card had an upper hand over the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card as both the cards were lifetime free and offered more or less the same reward rate (at different platforms obviously), Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card also entitled you to 4 complimentary lounge access at domestic airports across the country.

Now that Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card comes with an annual membership fee, both the cards can be considered to be on a level playing field. However, even with an annual fee of Rs. 500, Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card is still a great offering as you usually do not get the lounge access benefit with an entry-level credit card.
