Airtel Axis Credit Card Now at Zero Joining Fee for a Limited Time

Until recently, a first-year free offer on the Airtel Axis Credit Card would have been a big deal. But after the April 2026 devaluation, the card isn’t as attractive as before. Still, if you understand how to use it smartly, you can get up to 25% cashback on Airtel spends and 10% cashback on utility bill payments.

Airtel Axis Credit Card Now First Year Free

With the latest changes, the card now offers 10% cashback on utility bill payments made through the Airtel Axis app. This cashback is capped at the total base cashback earned in that statement cycle. It also offers 25% cashback on Airtel spends via the Airtel Thanks app, capped at twice the base cashback earned during the same period.

Key Highlights:

  • ₹0 Joining Fee (Limited Time Offer)
  • No Joining Benefit
  • 25% Cashback on Airtel Spends via Airtel Thanks App
  • 10% Cashback on Utility Payments
  • Cashback Linked to Base Spend (New Condition)

Should You Apply for Airtel Axis

Overall, the Airtel Axis Credit Card has lost much of its value. It now makes sense only for users who can spend enough in the 1% category to unlock higher cashback. The problem is, many other credit cards offer better returns on these basic spends.

For most users, this card no longer feels worth it. It may still work for those who spend heavily on Airtel services, but even then, increasing the cashback cap on the 25% category requires significant spending in the 1% category.

To unlock the full cashback, users first need to earn enough base cashback (1% category spends). Since ₹250 base cashback comes from spending ₹25,000 in the 1% category, this becomes the benchmark. Once you hit this, you can unlock up to ₹500 cashback on Airtel spends (2× of base cashback) and up to ₹250 on utility payments (equal to base cashback). In simple terms, unless you spend around ₹25,000 on regular 1% categories in a statement cycle, you won’t be able to fully benefit from the higher cashback rates.

Bottom Line

Earlier, this card was mainly used for Airtel payments and utility bill payments. But with the latest changes, cardholders now need to first spend in the 1% category to unlock cashback in the accelerated categories. This makes the card more complicated to use.

Still, those who are interested can apply. For a limited time, the card is being offered with no joining fee. However, if you take the card as First Year Free, you will not be eligible for the ₹250 Amazon joining voucher.
