Until recently, SBI Card offered co-branded credit cards with Air India, but these cards were discontinued alongside the merger of Air India and Vistara. Although SBI Air India Credit Cards are no longer being issued, many customers still hold and use these cards, particularly those who applied for them just before their discontinuation in October 2024. Starting from 31st March 2025, SBI Card shall devalue both of its Air India co-branded offerings by drastically reducing the reward points rate.
The following changes shall be applicable to the Air India SBI Credit Cards.
| Cards | Current Reward Rate | New Reward Rate from 31st March 2025 |
| Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card | 15 Reward Points/₹100 for Air India Spends on Self | 5 Reward Points/₹100 for All Air India Spends |
| Air India SBI Signature Credit Card | 30 Reward Points/₹100 for Air India Spends on Self | 10 Reward Points/₹100 for All Air India Spends |
This move, which shall be applicable from 31st March 2025, shall significantly reduce the appeals of these co-branded airline credit cards.
Bottom Line
The Reward Rate of both the Air India SBI Platinum and Signature Credit Card has seen a whopping reduction by 66.67%. The Platinum variant sees a drop from 15 to 5 points per ₹100, while the Signature variant drops from 30 to 10 points per ₹100. The value of Air India spends on these cards will decrease significantly after March 31, 2025. While earlier cardholders were getting accelerated Reward Points for Air India bookings for themselves and diminished Reward Rate for bookings for others, now there is one standard reward rate for all.
Many users, even those who opted for this just before its discontinuation, will now seek cancellation as the reward rate offered by this card has become ineffective.
