Air Accident Cover Removed from SBI KrisFlyer Credit Cards

25 July, 2025 / By Kartik Kanwar / 0 Comment

At a time when air accident insurance is in high demand among the general public, providing a sense of ease to those concerned by frequent incidents involving airlines across the globe, SBI Card has decided to remove this benefit from many of its major credit cards.

Air Accident Cover Removed from SBI KrisFlyer Credit Cards

Previously, SBI Card had withdrawn air accident cover from several credit cards effective July 15. Now, it has also removed this benefit from its Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer co-branded credit cards. This information has not yet been posted on the customer notices page, unlike earlier updates for other cards. Instead, it has been updated on the specific KrisFlyer SBI Credit Card product page.

Insurance Coverage

Card Name Air Accident Cover (Before) Air Accident Cover (After 26 July)
KrisFlyer SBI Credit Card ₹1 Crore ❌ None
KrisFlyer SBI Apex Card ₹3.5 Crore ❌ None

MUST READ – Why Air Accident Cover With Credit Cards Matters More Than Ever

Bottom Line

From 26th July, the ₹1 crore air accident cover on the KrisFlyer SBI Credit Card and the ₹3.5 crore air accident cover on the KrisFlyer SBI Apex Credit Card will be removed. Under normal circumstances, this might not even be seen as a major devaluation. However, considering the current global aviation climate, this is undoubtedly a significant downgrade, yet another one in the growing list of devaluations.

What’s most surprising is the timing of this move. While the previous removal of air accident cover from other SBI cards occurred before the infamous Air India incident, this KrisFlyer SBI devaluation comes at a time when such features provide valuable peace of mind, especially for someone opting for a credit card co-branded with an airline.

Both of these cards were featured in our recommendations for credit cards with complimentary air accident insurance. Both have since been removed, and the future of SBI Aurum in this regard hangs in the balance.
